PRESIDENT DUTERTE'S SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

1. The executive order on freedom of information (FOI).
2. The intensified campaign against illegal drugs.
3. The revival of peace talks with communist and Muslim rebels.
4. A one-stop shop for overseas Filipino workers.
5. Age does not matter anymore in looking for a job in the Philippines.
6. President Duterte ordered the closure of online gambling since there are no mechanism to regulate the game.
7. 2 days after the president’s inauguration, photos of a clean Divisoria (a shopping mecca in Recto, Manila) made shockwaves across local social media because no one could believe that it was possible to clean up the place. It turns out the vendors took it upon themselves to clean the place, in support of Duterte’s plans. Baclaran followed suit.
8. The crafting of a comprehensive tax reform plan.
9. President Duterte's approval of the creation of the People's Broadcasting Corporation that will integrate Radyo ng Bayan and PTV4. The bill is now in Congress and Senate.
10. President Duterte's approval for the establishment of the Mindanao Broadcast Hub. Construction will start on 2017.
11. NTC approval of Bureau of Broadcast Service to use 87.5 FM Nationwide as government fm service.
12. Presidential Communications partnership with Facebook which streams almost all Major Presidential Activities LIVE.
13. P100 million will be granted to centenarians and additional funding is provided for the supplemental feeding program.
14. Unleashed repeated tirades against his foreign critics, among them US President Barack Obama, the US government, the United Nations, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, and the European Union.
15. Officials claim illegal drug supply in the country has been cut as much as by 90 percent, and crime has been reduced by 49 percent.
16. George Barcelon, president of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the business community has felt improvements in the country three months into the Duterte presidency.
17. On reducing corruption in the bureaucracy, Abella highlighted the administration’s efforts to streamline government transactions, including the processing of permits and licenses. The President has asked local governments to cut the time for new business registrations to two days from several weeks and automate some transactions.
18. The government also launched the 911 rescue.
19. Launced 8888 complaint hotlines, programs that were warmly received by the public.
20. Peace with Muslims - In his first 100 days, Duterte embarked on a tour of Armed Forces of the Philippines camps to explain to the troops his efforts toward addressing decades-old rebellions waged by communists and Muslims.
21. Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza has also met with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to jumpstart efforts to pass the Bangsamoro Basic Law, which expands the scope and powers of the Muslim autonomous region in Mindanao.
22. Duterte, meanwhile, has brought the rival Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) to the mix, by promising that the group’s founder, Nur Misuari, won’t be arrested over rebellion charges.
23. Peace with the NPA’s - Talks between the government and communist rebels began in August in Oslo, Norway, and the second round is underway. Chief negotiator Silvestre Bello 3rd expects a deal to be done in 12 months.
24. Re-engaging China, which had lost the case filed by the Philippines before the Hague-based Permanent Court of Arbitration regarding the West Philippine Sea, following the appointment of former president Fidel Ramos as special envoy.
25. The approval of the increase in the combat and incentive pay of soldiers and police personnel through Executive Order 3, which took effect on September 1.
26. Lesser income tax burden – reduction of the income tax burden for the working class. Filipinos who are earning less than ₱250,000 annually will be tax free and the others from higher income brackets will also have lesser tax obligations.
27. The tax rates in the proposed reform will be decreasing gradually in the coming years and it will be implemented in the second half of 2017 up until 2019. The tax income in 2020 and onward are expected to be even lower!
28. Free tertiary Educations – Duterte signed an Executive Order on free tuition fees for all state universities in the country which was allocated with a budget of ₱8.3 billion. This was immediately acted upon by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). On the April 20, 2017, they have released a memorandum on free tuition fee grant in state universities and colleges (SUCs) for the school year 2017- 2018.
29. P3 billion increase in the PhilHealth was approved so that all Filipinos will now be covered by the universal healthcare program.
30. Indigent patients will not have to pay for anything in government hospitals under the No Balance Billing (NBB) policy and construction of additional health facilities, and medical assistance to indigent patients.
31. Additional funds for the Department of Health (DOH) worth P1.521 billion for the Doctors to the Barrio program.
32. P2.646 billion allocation for the establishment of DOH-Treatment and Rehabilitation Centers in regions which do not have such facility.
33. Additional P1 billion is allocated under the Small Business Corporation so it can provide loans at almost no interest to microenterprises; additional funds were also provided for various programs of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) including Employment Facilitation and Capacity Building Service.
34. Allocation for the combat and incentive pay of the military and police worth P12.1 billion, as well as funding for the Capability Enhancement Program of the PNP.
35. The House of Representatives recently approved on third and final reading of this bill which also seeks to strengthen the Unified Student Financial Assistance System (UniFAST). It has now moved up to its final phase – the approval of the President.
36. Better foreign economic ties. Whether you agree with his independent foreign policy or not, we can’t deny the fact that President Duterte has brought a lot of interesting deals to the country. He didn’t just open our doors to China, he also welcomed our neighboring countries in Asia and even Russia.
37. Build! Build! Build! At the heart of Duterte’s economic (Dutertenomics) agenda is its highly ambitious Build! Build! Build! Infrastructure program. Despite economic growth, the country’s infrastructure are still underdeveloped. Dutertenomics aims to address that.
38. Expected increase in GDP - This infrastructure program is worth ₱8 trillion and is expected to increase its share to GDP from a projected 5.4% this year to 7.4% by 2022. Aside from the official development assistance (ODA) from foreign governments and multilateral institutions, it is also backed by a tax reform program to raise funds for new highways, bridges, ports, train lines and airports.
39. Creating more jobs - More projects mean more jobs for the people. It is expected to create a lot of employment opportunities for Filipinos. In fact, the 75 projects under the President’s “build build build” list will create two million jobs annually.
40. Transparency - The Build Build Build program comes with its own online portal, which lists down high impact projects that are envisioned to boost the productive capacity of the country’s economy, create more jobs, increase income, and strengthen the investment climate for a sustained inclusive growth.The best part about it is that it comes with a real-time tool where projects can be monitored and tracked by anyone. Hence, Filipinos can expect a more transparent government in the coming years.
41. Growing economy - Just recently, data from the World Bank’s Global Economic Prospect report ranks the Philippines as the 10th fastest growing economy globally, with projected annual growth at 6.9% for the years 2017 and 2018. This impressive growth can be credited to the country’s expansionary fiscal policy which has boosted the capital formation and the robust remittances, low inflation rate, and credit growth which supported private consumption.
42. Construction of the Metro-Manila Subway Project is on track with the ground-breaking set in 4th quarter of 2018 and the 1st segment to be in operations before President Duterte’s term in 2022.
43. Executive Order No. 26, which banned smoking in public places nationwide.
44. Executive order No. 28, regulating the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices nationwide.
45. The number of crimes in the country decreased by 8% in the 1st 10 months of this year, Crime rate in Manila drops by 38% for the past 12 months, according to the Philippine National Police.
46. Passport validity extension is now 10 years.
47. Driver’s license validity is now 5 years.
48. SSS Pension was raised by Php2,000 monthly.
49. Selected OFWs who are going back to the Philippines for vacation may be exempted from getting an OEC if they have registered at the BM (Balik Manggagawa) online website. This takes effect starting September 15, 2016. This is good news for plenty of Pinoys especially when OEC has always been a requirement whenever we go back to our work country.
50. Maute terrorists eliminated and Marawi was liberated.
51. Lucio Tan’s Philippine Airlines on Friday settled its outstanding debt to the government that had swelled to P6 billion since the flag-carrier incurred the arrears more than four decades ago after Duterte warned him that he will shut down NAIA.
52. Duterte accepted Mighty Corporation’s biggest tax settlement in the amount of Php25 billion.
53. The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) will no longer charge “processing fee” for the issuance of certificates of Travel Tax Exemption and Reduced Travel Tax effective Monday, July 25, 2016.
54. Seventy-five more mining contracts have been cancelled in an intensified government crackdown on mines deemed destructive to watersheds - representing almost a third of the country’s contracts for undeveloped mines – include the $5.9-billion Tampakan gold and copper project in South Cotabato, potentially the country’s biggest foreign investment and believed to be one of the largest gold prospects in the world.
55. President Duterte is serious about modernizing public utility vehicles (PUVs), including jeepneys, the chairman of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said.
56. Rodrigo Duterte ordered Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Regina Paz Lopez to destroy the fish pens crowding the Laguna de Bay and instead transform it into an economic haven so that the poor can also fish in the bay.
57. Poor families receiving conditional cash transfer (CCT) grants from the government will also receive 40-kilogram rice bags, as promised by President Duterte in his State of the Nation Address (Sona).
58. The four-year salary upgrading for all state officials and employees. - The lowest-paid teacher, who holds Salary Grade 11, now receives an adjusted basic monthly salary of P19,620 and will have a total of P2,205 in annual increments by 2019, when the upgrading program ends. His or her basic pay will go up to P20,754.The lowest-paid soldiers and policemen will get less, since they are lower in pay grade than teachers. They get the equivalent pay for Salary Grades 8-9, or between P16,000 and P17,000. They receive more than P20,000, including allowances.
59. House Bill 5670 or the Free Irrigation Act was approved last May before the chamber went on a two-month break on June 2. The bill aims to pursue a genuine agricultural development strategy by providing support services for farmers, with the end in view of raising their productivity and improving their access to markets.
60. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) signed a memorandum of agreement with the five hospitals for the implementation of the Libreng Gamot Para sa Masa Program (Lingap), a P1 billion free medical assistance for indigent patients who need help with their medication. The new partner-hospitals are Jose Reyes Memorial Hospital, East Avenue Medical Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, Philippine Children’s Hospital, and San Lazaro Hospital. With the new partnership, DSWD now has a total of 11 partner-public hospitals, which would facilitate the provision of free medicine to indigent patients.
